Sometimes you want to get rid of some of the frequently used programs in the XP Start menu to. Right-click in an empty section of the Start menu’s left column, and select Properties > Start Menu > Customize. Here you’ll find the settings for the Start Menu Frequently Used Programs. (XP keeps track of what you use and what you don’t, then updates this list dynamically.) Does your boss need to know that you are playing solitaire all day? Go to the General tab, click Clear List, and set the counter to zero.
The folks at Microsoft spent a lot of time to create a new Start Menu for XP. You don’t like XP look? To switch back to the Windows 98/2000 look, right-click the desktop, select Properties, click the Start Menu tab, and choose Classic Start menu radio button. Press APPLY and OK. Now you are back to the old-style start menu.
