How to get the news you want

Sponsored review:

I recently was asked about the site: http://thoof.com/a/P-U8v_R8EYYnwQ%3D%3D/thoof available at Personalized News. Below is a review of what I saw.

The site is described as a site that learns your interests and the news and information that you are interested in, and then displays similar or related items that you might be interested in.

Thoof.com uses a “personalization algorithm”. This means that the site users can browse the stories that may interest them on their first visit, and Thoof.com will then be able to use their unique algorithm to find stories or news articles that you may be interested in on your next visit. You also become part of the vote as to which stories or news articles matter and what changes to make. All users’ votes will make up the democracy that is Thoof.com, and will direct the way that Thoof.com displays the information and news stories.

Each individual news story has many different options. The biggest option is to click on the star next to the story to place your vote for this story and others like or related to it. You have the option of reading the complete story, let Thoof.com know that this story is of no interest to you, or send the link to the article to someone else via an email link. Each article is also tagged by the referrer as to the content; this helps Thoof.com to match stories to your interests.

The technology used in Thoof.com’s algorithm are similar to the ones used Amazon.com and Buy.com to track the users preferences and interests to match products for sale. The idea behind Thoof.com is unique in that instead of trying to sell you products, it gives you what you want: All of the articles you want, few you don’t.
